Where to Meet

Row Venice operates in north side of Venice in a quiet part of the city where you can learn to row on spacioius, quiet canals.

Row Venice Meeting Point

We have one single meeting point for all our activities, located near the canal stairs along the fondamenta Gasparo Contarini, not far from the Hotel Heureka and the Madonna dell’Orto church. GPS coordinates are 45.44535, 12.33408.

IMPORTANT:

Do not ring the bell or enter the private boat marina.  They have no relation to Row Venice and have no information about our lessons.

Find us the easy way! Search Row Venice in Google or Apple maps (browser or app) to get directions from your current position. Wait along the fondamenta near the canal steps, just beyond the blue-tipped mooring poles, your Row Venice batela will arrive just before your appointment time.

Also note that TAXIS MAY NOT ENTER THE MARINA. You will not be allowed to disembark. Find mooring along the fondamenta at the Hotel Heureka.

SOME HELPFUL HINTS

  • Review maps carefully. Make sure you allow enough time to cross the city without hurrying and still to arrive a five or so minutes before your lesson time. As our lessons run back to back, we won’t be able to extend your lesson time if you are late.
  • Once you arrive,  wait along the fondamenta at the canal steps, your instructor will meet you there.
  • Stay available at your en route contact should you be delayed, become lost, or in case there’s is a turn in the weather and we need to contact you.
  • Get in touch by Live Chat if you will be delayed—we just need to know you’re on your way. Your instructor will wait 30 minutes if we don’t hear from you, after which she’ll return the boat the marina.

Detailed Directions from Around Town

First search “Row Venice” in Google or Apple maps, then cross-reference the location with these written directions for arriving from various parts of town.

From the San Marcuola vap stop (12 mins)

Take Line 1 or Line 2 to the San Marcuola vaporetto stop. From there:

  • walk with the water at your back to the right of the church; behind it, turn left onto the wide rio terà Drio della Chiesa. A few steps ahead…
  • Turn right into the narrow calle Secondo del Cristo. At the end, turn right, and take the next left (the courtyard and restaurant La Colombina will be on your right).
  • Walk straight ahead, you will cross a main thoroughfare and the wide Campiello Anconetta, walk straight ahead into the calle d’Aseo
  • Continue straight to the end, cross the bridge, turn right, and cross another bridge.
  • Walk straight ahead, keep the water on your right, pass a bridge (do not cross), then turn left into the large walkway calle Larga, just before the restaurant Osteria da Rioba.
  • Walk straight ahead until you have crossed two bridges, you will see the massive Madonna dell’Orto church.
  • Turn right, and continue with the water on your right, pass the big Madonna dell’Orto church and continue toward next bridge. Wait along the fondamenta between the last set of water steps and the bridge.

From the TRAIN STATION (30 mins) or PIAZZALE ROMA (35 mins)

  • you may walk following the map indications above, about 30 minutes, or
  • take vaporetto Line 5.2 or Line 4.2 to the ORTO vaporetto stop (about 30 mins)
  • From the ORTO vaporetto stop, walk straight ahead (as much as possible) until you reach the canal. Turn left.
  • Walking with the water on your right, pass the big Madonna dell’Orto church and continue toward next bridge. Wait along the fondamenta between the last set of water steps and the bridge.
  • Note that the estimated times are from the vaporetto departure time.

From the VENICE MARITTIMA Cruise Port (50 mins)

To arrive at the Row Venice meeting point from the Maritime port, we would suggest that you

• walk to the People Mover tram (5 min , straight out the port front entrance); buy tickets (€1 each); take the tram to Piazzale Roma (2 mins).

• from street level tram exit, turn right and right again to walk between the parking garages to the water and the vaporetto landings 4.2 and 5.2; tickets may be bought on board for €7 each.

NOTE: if you would like to get vaporetto passes for the duration of your stay, turn left from the tram and walk to the ACTV ticket offices, where you may purchase a travel card (from 24 hours to a week duration, your preference) from the offices, booths or machines (lines may be shorter inside). Have someone then point you to the departure landing for Lines 4.2 and 5.2.

• Take vaporetto line 4.2 or 5.2 to the ORTO vaporetto stop (25 minutes). From there walk straight ahead until you arrive at the canal.

• Walking with the water on your right, pass the big Madonna dell’Orto church and continue toward next bridge. Wait along the fondamenta between the last set of water steps and the bridge.

From STRADA NOVA / Ca’ d’Oro vap stop (12 mins)

Get directions from your hotel concierge to the campo Santi Apostoli and Strada Nova, OR take Line 1 to the Ca’ d’Oro vaporetto stop. From the vap stop: walk to the end of the calle and turn left onto the Strada Nova. From campo Santi Apostoli, walk straight up the Strada Nova with the Vecio Bragosso restaurant on your left. Then,

  • Walk past MacDonald’s and Lush on your right; cross the bridge and turn right immediately onto the fondamenta San Felice.
  • Walk with the water on your right; turn left at the end (the only way you can turn).
  • Cross the big bridge and walk past the massive Scuola Misericordia on your right
  • Take the 2nd right into the campiello Trevisani. IMPORTANT! If you pass VINO VERO on your right and a bridge crossing the canal on your left, turn around and turn left.
  • Walk straight ahead, cross the bridge, continue and cross the  next bridge; turn left and wait along the fondamenta between bridge and the water steps.

From GIUDECCA (30 mins)

  • take vaporetto Line 4.2 to the ORTO vaporetto stop (about 30 mins, check time from your departure stop). If you are staying at the Hilton Molino Stucky, you may take the shuttle to the Zattere stop, then take vaporetto Line 5.2 from there to the ORTO stop.
  • From the ORTO vaporetto stop, walk straight ahead (as much as possible) until you reach the canal. Turn left.
  • Walking with the water on your right, pass the big Madonna dell’Orto church and continue toward next bridge. Wait along the fondamenta between the last set of water steps and the bridge.
  • Note that the estimated times are from the vaporetto departure time.

From LIDO (45 mins) or MURANO (30 mins)

  • From Lido, take vaporetto Line 5.1 to the ORTO vaporetto stop (about 30 mins)
  • From Murano Colonna, take Line 4.1 to the ORTO vaporetto stop (about 15 mins)
  • From the ORTO vaporetto stop, walk straight ahead (as much as possible) until you reach the canal, turn left.
  • Walking with the water on your right, pass the big Madonna dell’Orto church and walk toward next bridge. Wait along the fondamenta between the last set of water steps and the bridge.
  • Note that the estimated times are from the boat departure time.

From the SAN BASILIO Cruise Port (40 mins)

Take the vaporetto line 5.2 from the San Basilio vaporetto stop to the ORTO stop (25 mins).

• From there, walk as straight ahead as possible until you arrive at the canal.

• Walking with the water on your right, pass the big Madonna dell’Orto church and continue toward next bridge. Wait along the fondamenta between the last set of water steps and the bridge.
