It means the preservation of boating traditions, through active participants, are under threat by declining enrollment in rowing clubs, i.e. the number of Venetian rowers. Secondly, with the growth of visitors expected to reach as many as <strong>40 million annually<\/strong> by 2015, the resulting effect on\u00a0canals and the lagoon with the wakes\/washes and propeller actions\u00a0of the logistical infrastructure (barges, delivery boats, water taxies, vaporetti) will be devastating.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-183\" src=\"http:\/\/rowvenice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Voga-laguna-682x1024.jpg\" alt=\"Voga laguna\" width=\"302\" height=\"450\" \/>As one of 24 million visitors a year, you can do your part to minimize your\u00a0impact on the waterways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>use the vaporetto public transport<\/li>\n<li>use the <a title=\"Alilaguna Venice Port and Airport Transfers\" href=\"http:\/\/alilaguna.com\" target=\"_blank\">Alilaguna<\/a>\u00a0service for port and airport water transfers.<\/li>\n<li>If you hire a private water taxi, try sharing it with others, as they&#8217;re licensed to carry up to 12 passengers<\/li>\n<li>please don&#8217;t\u00a0ask your taxi\u00a0driver to speed; instead remind him\u00a0to\u00a0avoid creating a wake.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p align=\"left\">Promote the lagoon ecology by taking public transport and riding in oar-powered\u00a0boats whenever possible.
